I never imagined I’d write this letter.
I wish you only the best, but I have to turn down your wedding invitation.
As days drift, aimless, unrelenting, I grow restless.
My heart yearns for open sky, open sea, open horizons… The stale walls of the cathedral, tinged with the telling of tales from scripture, repel me. The starch-stiff stuffiness of black fabric scuffs my skin and the thought of white gossamer gripping me, web-like, haunts my nights.
I can’t stay. You can keep the rings. – John
