It's a shame that Christmas tradition dictates humans uproot the one thing that gives oxygen, stores carbon and provides shelter for wildlife.
But that's the way the gingerbread cookie crumbles, I guess...
Did you know most Christmas songs prior to 1930 were of a traditional religious character?
The Great Depression era of the 1930s brought a stream of songs of American origin, most of which didn't explicitly reference the Christian nature of the holiday.
Of course, neither did Edward Scissorhands and Die Hard, but those are considered vaguely Christmassy now too.
Anyway, right this way to the crazy Christmas art we found all over the Internet...
Is Christmas a pagan?
The date itself and several of the customs we have come to associate with Christmas actually evolved from pagan traditions celebrating the winter solstice, though December 25 is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Pretty neat, though also kind of weird, right?
