Some Ghastly House Stories You Should Stick Around for - Odd Nugget

Contents

Wearing PJs around the house is bound to catch on as an around town thing too soon enough.

Comfort knows no bounds.

I digress...

You don't have to tell anybody if the eerie house stories and books featured below make you uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure they do that to everyone...

Fangs for Freaks (Book 2: Half-blood vampire series)

Half-blood vampire protector Colby Blanchard knows there's nothing like a blood sister...

She's got the half-blood vampires freed from slavery or worse, execution and created a protective haven for them.

She's laid the smack-down for some way-needed new laws.

Things should be great, right? Um, not so much.

except a sorority sister. Psi Phi House, the sanctuary she's created for half-bloods, seems just like any other sorority on campus. The biggest difference: new pledges are being dumped on the front lawn, bound and gagged, left by the Vampire Tribunal. Trouble in the house? With everything going on, Colby's pretty stressed and if keeping her half-blood sisters from each others' throats wasn't hard enough, leaked info on their whereabouts is bringing on some ugly, unexpected attacks. Either someone in the Tribunal wants them dead, or there's a spy in the house, watching them day or night. Or if it's a full-blood, just night... Also available, Book 1, Braced to Bite on Wattpad!

I stayed in a haunted house in Warwick and I swear it was evil.

When I was pregnant, me and my kids father stayed at his cousins house for about a month before we moved into our apartment. Its an old farm house in a newly developed area of Warwick, Rhode Island. There are farms and woods in one direction and a small town on the other.

We were told when we moved in, that the house had been built in the mid 1800s, which to me was super interesting until my kids father (Ill call him Bryan) remarked at how the stairs seemed awfully dark and creepy for the middle of the day and when I looked, he was right. It gave off such a sinister vibe. We slept in the living room and at night could see through the kitchen and it was as if the stairs became a dark uncomfortable void. When we brought this up to Bryans cousin and his wife, they proceeded to laugh and tell us stories of people being pushed down the stairs (I dont think they believed in ghosts and the husband was an abusive drunk and drug addict..so they had enough problems clearly.)

That house was chaotic. The husband and wife clearly were having serious issues, emotionally and financially. They had a 6 year old son who was afraid to sleep upstairs by himself because the shadows scared him. Great. After being in the house alone a couple times and seeing genuine human figures out of the corner of my eye. Or even better, black dots on the floor with what looked like long spindly legs running but when youd look at them straight on, would disappear. A few times I would see a figure out of the corner of my eye, look and see one of the family members who I hadnt heard come in. I think that freaked me out the most because how can you explain to yourself seeing a person and sometimes nothing being there but other times you expect it to disappear but would in fact, be a person standing there this time. So weird.

Bryan would say how sitting in one chair in the living room youd want to look over your shoulder into the doorway, as if someone was coming down a set of stairs thats used to be there. This also freaked me out, considering I slept right near the doorway and often would get a feeling of someone coming toward me. One day me and Bryan were the only two in the entire house. Facing one another about two feet away face to face, talking loud as we usually do. Directly in the middle of us we heard a womans voice say SHHH!. I asked if he had said that and he stared at me with huge eyes and asked no? Did you? Then we laughed it off as we were clearly talking too loud for the inhabitants, apparently.

We eventually brought this up to the family (who included a second cousin living upstairs) and they confirmed they too saw and felt things. They told us they assumed the black voids that ran on the floor were just one of their dogs and ignored it if it wasnt. The cousin who lived upstairs said the curtains to his closet often moved like they were being pushed but he chocked it up to being stoned or tired. There was no breeze.

The wife told me when they first moved there, her son would see a man in a hat but assumed it was his imagination. How could you live in a house so clearly haunted and just pass it off? The front of the house at night was avoided by basically everyone, as it was right where it felt like someone was walking by the doorframe at you in the living room. One night I didnt feel like walking all the way around this huge house to the car, so I walked as fast as I could to the car through the front door. I heard a deep growling coming from the side of the house. They owned three dogs, one of which was a bull mastiff. Too freaked out to call for her, I ran in and to my horror all three dogs were in the house. Needless to say I didnt use that entrance again.

It was such an emotionally depressing house, and maybe me being pregnant I was just more aware of everything? There were other weird things but one of the last conversations I had with one of the roommates renting a back bedroom (it was down a long hall at the very end, the only door in this isolated hallway). I told her about me and Bryan hearing SHH! Directly in the middle of us. She explained she hears the same exact thing in the hallway, if she and her son were getting loud, but was sure it was the owners young son sneaking into the hallway. Im not so sure.

Edit: I said late 1800s. I asked the home owner to clarify, it was actually built in the 1840s.

Random clapping sounds in house

Just for context, my wife and I have lived in our house for almost 10 years. During majority of this time we've had zero paranormal experiences. About a year an a half ago, my mother in law passed away. She was really close with my wife and obviously has been hard on here. Since her passing, a few odd things have happened, a knocking here and there but quiet enough to disregard it as something other than paranormal, the sound of doors closing gently which has never happened before but we just assumed it was heatingcooling closing a partially opened door (which we've never or seen or heard or witnessed happen) but we just debunk most weird occurrences to something other than paranormal. My first major experience was when my wife was out of town for work about a year ago. I had video called my wife and we talked for about a half hour and she decided she was going to bed. I decided to make a Jack and coke and relax for a bit before I went to bed. So I make my drink and while I'm stirring it up, the shot glass slides about 8" across the counter. There was no water or alcohol on to counter that could of assisted it sliding, I tried to recreate it to no avail. So officially spooked a bit, I had to call my wife back. She calmly says, "my mom must be hanging with you having a drink." I kind of felt honored that she'd hang with me, and just went along with it and tried to enjoy my drink.

So over the next year or so, the same sounds kept happening but nothing like the shot glass. Until about a few weeks ago. It was about pm and my 14 yo daughter was over for the weekend, I was showing her our newly remodeled bathroom which was down the hallway from our kitchen maybe 20-30' and we heard a loud "clap" sound and my wife says, "wtf was that?" So we come out to see what happened and she instantly assumed it was me sneaking up behind her and clapping, but I assured her that we were both in the bathroom not anywhere in the proximity of where we heard the clap. We were all just kind of in shock, we all heard it loud and clear. We were all standing around talking about it and then all of a sudden there's another loud clap which sounded like it was just a few feet away from my head and in between where my daughter and I were standing. I physically felt the vibrations in the air. We were all stunned again and in disbelief about it. We all just kind of joked it was the mother in law letting us know she's still around us or something like that. Now it's been a few weeks, have had no new occurrences or sounds. Till about 45 mins ago. My wife was in the garage and heard another loud clap. The garage door was closed, everyone in the house, she was all alone. I heard the clap from inside the house but just assumed it was her making it somehow. She came inside and told me she heard the clap again and I told her I had heard it as well. Definitely something paranormal in my opinion. But has anyone had something similar to this? Would love to hear your experiences, or opinions. Thanks for reading.

Something is in That House

So my fiancee used to live in this run down, extremely old house. We are pretty sure it was actually a barn at one point that was then converted into a home. Well let me tell you, that house is the most haunted location I have ever stepped foot in to this day. Its been almost four years since weve been inside and well never go back.

When my fiancee was younger she was kicked out of her childhood home and went to live with her best friend just down the road. Her room was actually a porch with its own exterior door and a door leading into the living room of the home. Just to set the scene for you a bit. She had vaguely warned me that there was something in the house but I kind of just brushed it off.

Well one night I went to stay over with her. It was the end of the night we were both pretty tired and decided to go to bed. We got under the covers all cuddled up and not even two minutes after turning the lights out and closing our eyes it happened.

It sounded as if something, very large and almost animalistic, stomped from the other end of her room right up to the side of the bed and began breathing heavily, and almost rhythmically, while staring down at us. I know she heard it too because the breathing began to get faster and faster and the faster that thing was breathing the tighter she was squeezing me. I never asked her if she felt the same but I could feel that whatever that thing was, it was evil. We were both absolutely terrified of what could have been looming over us like that. Both too petrified to even open our eyes, we just laid there gripping each other out of pure terror.

And then all at once it just stopped. At the very same second the loud breathing stopped the air around us got lighter. I shot up, my eyes darting around the room looking for anything to explain what we had just experienced. But there was nothing, just a dark room around us. We slept with all the lights on the rest of that night.

A different night that I was there, the glass of a picture frame shattered and woke us up. We would hear running upstairs in the loft even though there was nobody else in the house; and whispering that sounded like there was someone just outside the window trying to tell you a secret. Something would bang on the door in between her room and the living room while violently shaking the door knob. One day an old baby picture of someone neither of us recognized just showed up on her table. And the nightmares I had when I would sleep there were unlike any Id ever had in my life.

But nothing compared to the fear I felt the night that thing walked right up to us, watching us in bed from less that a foot away. Ill never forget that.
