Shame shaming, (zaibatsu), 10/10/2019
------------------------------------------------------------
I picked up my two teenagers from an early morning class,
and on the <2min car ride home, my son was complaining about
the heater/air not blowing hard enough. At breakfast I
teased him about it, and my daughter said something about
"shaming"... and I thought, I'm being shame-shamed!
That is to say, I was being shamed for shaming someone else.
It's all so darned silly. We had a good laugh over it, and
then someone switched the subject to "first world problems"
with the a/c not being just exactly right for two minutes of
our lives.
Still, I think the shaming culture is out of control. People
make a moral judgement about the wrongness of shaming
someone for making a moral judgement of the wrongness of
whatever it is they've done. It's bizarre.
