Re: Rice Cookers
Rice cookers strike me as wretched excess. Good rice is not hard
to produce with standard equipment. I use a mundane 1-quart pot
with a tight lid & find it quite satisfactory. May I offer the
following recipe?
MUNDANE RICE
of
3/4 cup long grain rice (Uncle Ben's is okay)
1 cup water
1 tsp butter
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 bay leaf
a small piece of lemon rind
Dump everything in a 1 quart pot.
With the lid on bring to a boil.
If you are using an electric stove,
turn the burner off.
If you have a gas stove turn the heat
down as low as you can.
Wait 20 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
Ah yess -- remove the bay leaf.
