American Satellite Company
The American Satellite Co. has filed an application with the
FCC asking permission to build its own satellites. ASC, now
the leader in high-speed satellite communications, has space
on board WESTAR satellites, but asked permission to build its
own to offset new competition from Satellite Business Systems,
which has already built and launched two satellites. The
proposed ASC satellites would be able to use 2 radio bands,
have a 10-year life span, and be able to be launched by either
the shuttle or a Delta or Ariane rocket.
