These NIKHEF network tools are excellent compared to most versions

Sadly, the author and maintainer of this code, Eric Wassenaar, died in
April 2000. This assessment is based on the content of the messages

The code now residing in the 'nikhef_mirror' directory was obtained
from ftp://ftp.nikhef.nl/pub/network prior to its removal after Eric's

The directory 'linux_patches' contains patches for ping and traceroute

The 'host' code is now being maintained by Greg A. Woods and is

    Dear All,
This month's hostcount is dedicated to Eric Wassenaar, who
was sadly killed in a traffic accident recently. Eric was
the maintainer of the host tool which we use to perform the
hostcount, and has helped us numerous times in the past in
    this context.
    We thank you Eric.
Below is the hostcount for March 2000.

Eric Wassenaar was killed in an accident on April 10th. His user
    account/webpages were subsequently removed.
You can still find Eric's ping on ftp.nikhef.nl.
I do not know who inherited these tools.
