EVE on Wattpad

It took months spending every night in church, saying a thousand prayers, just for God to ignore my pleas to make me well.

Church Organist Appeared and Disappeared

For a number of years I attended a small Episcopal church that had previously been a Catholic church. The congregation consisted of about 10 people and eventually the church closed for that reason. There were many remnants of when the church had been more active, including an organ in the back that was no longer used. No one could play it and it was severely out of tune. (My child, who was quite little at the time, would often sit on the bench and play with toys back there.) We had a piano in the front but no one could play it well so aside from when we briefly had a college student who played violin join the congregation, we sang a capella. (One of the congregants who had minor knowledge of the piano would give us the first note.) We only had a priest join us once a month; otherwise it was congregant-led. Usually I entered through the back door with the kitchen where the parking was and then walked into the front chapel part of the church. However, one day I was running late and the parking in the back was full. Although there were only a handful of us, there were also only a couple of parking spots and so if you came late sometimes they would be full and you would have to park on the street out front. So that day I walked in the front door. As I walked in, I looked to the side and noticed we had a new organist. She was a middle aged blonde woman with "big hair" that looked like she had gotten her hairstyle stuck somewhere in the late 1980s. She was poised and ready to play the organ and was wearing what looked to be a choir gown. I thought this was very interesting because I knew (a) we really didn't have the finances for an organist so this woman must be someone's friend or family member and (b) I didn't even think that organ worked. I sat down in the pew with my kiddo (keeping them in the seat to avoid a preschooler wandering over to bother the organist) and waited for the music to begin. To my surprise, the guy who usually gave us the first note on the piano did so and everyone began to sing the opening hymn a capella as usual. At this point I got a bit of a chill down my spine as I thought to myself, "Wow, there really isn't a new organist, is there? What did I just see?" I tried to explain this to the other congregants after church. I thought they might know something about an organist who died since some had been there for a long time, but no one else ever had a similar experience. I think maybe I saw an impression from the past or something. At any rate, it was very strange. With the exception of one other event that happened as a teenager when I saw a guy run out of the wall in my grandparents' house (which I knew was haunted), I have not typically seen things. I do not hallucinate and I was not under the influence of any substance. I tend to think this was a paranormal experience even though I realize that even people who don't typically hallucinate might under the right circumstances. Nothing seemed odd about her other than the fact that she was there. She just looked like an ordinary woman (albeit with a dated hairdo) sitting at the organ.
