Paranormal airbnb stories like these are strange enough to pique anybody's interest. Take a look...

Treacherous mountain road goes downhill both directions and saves us from getting stuck

Last weekend I took a trip for my birthday with my partner to a small mountain town in Colorado. We are from Denver so we drive in the mountains a lot and Im fairly accustomed to it. We decided to take a nice drive and enjoy the scenery.

If youve ever been to Colorado, you know that the weather can change quickly in the mountains. We were driving (on highway 285 if you care) through a valley that was dry with no snow, and had to pass through a tunnel on the slope up to exit the valley. The tunnel slightly sloped upwards and there was some snowprecipitation on the other side of the tunnel outside of the valley. Continuing on, we reached the peak of that set of mountains and went through a second tunnel which was quite icy. The tunnels in this stretch of land are very long and windy because they cut through the mountains. It was really icy and made my partner and myself nervous to be driving on roads in those conditions, especially with the curves.

After passing through the 2nd (icy) tunnel, we immediately started going downhill into another valley that was getting hit pretty hard by a snowstorm. At this point we both made a comment about how we were nervous we would have to go back uphill in all of this snow, so I took the next possible turnoff and turned around to head back to our AirBnB. Id been riding the brakes the whole way down the mountain, basically just sliding towards where I wanted to go and hoping no animals jumped out in front of us. At this point we had probably driven about half a mile (all downhill) into the base of this valley. We ended up turning around in a ski area parking lot, so I know we were at the base of the valley because we were at the base of the ski lifts. Logically, we had driven downhill to get into the base of the valley, and both my partner and I have vivid memories of driving downhill and being notably nervous about backtracking in the snow. I turned our car around specifically because we were going downhill too much and we were dreading the difficulties we might face going back up.

HOWEVER - here is where we experienced the glitch:

After I turned around at the ski area parking lot, we headed back towards our AirBnB. We both were holding our breath because the snow was heavy, roads were slick and we were about to go up a slippery mountain. BUT. I never, never had to take my foot off the brake. Again. While I rode the brakes the entire way into the valley before turning around, I rode my brakes the entire way back to the icy tunnel. When I say I rode my brakes, I mean I had to literally pump my brakes to stop from sliding out on the steep slippery mountainside. Didnt touch the gas pedal once. When we got to the icy tunnel and knew wed somehow gotten up the mountain by going downhill we both audibly questioned if this was the correct tunnel.

Did we go the wrong way? Was this the right tunnel? Have we been going downhill the whole time? No really, we were going downhill. Why are we still going downhill?

We both were absolutely shocked. There was no doubt we went downhill in both directions. We both were so nervous about our circumstances because we were sliding down a mountain into a valley. We also turned around at a ski lift area which are at the bases of the mountains. It HAD to be downhill to get there. But when we left the valley, we just slid back out on another downslope. Sure enough, a short distance later we went through the 1st tunnel and were back in our original valley. We were at our AirBnb in no time, and most definitely didnt take a wrong turn. Honestly we were both pretty grateful for it (the glitch). It was a scary situation that came on us fast. We feared being stuck at the bottom of a snowy valley but made it home easily on a glitch.

I might have had a possible encounter with a skinwalker

I'm not that great of a story teller, but I'll just quickly write what happened.

We were staying at a Hogan Airbnb on the Navajo nation close to monument valley, and there were several very friendly calm dogs roaming around. I and my friends (one of whom is deathly afraid of dogs) had no problem being with them or petting them. We had a gorgeous view of monument valley right from our door, and it was cold, yet cozy.

That night I needed to use the bathroom, and opened the door to the dogs going absolutely nuts. There is a difference between a dog barking at just whatever, a person walking by for example, and then there was this: total fight or flight response. One of the dogs ran up to me looking anxious and glancing into the desert behind the Hogan. It came close, then walked back to look into the desert behind the Hogan. Its fur stood up and it suddenly looked more like a wolf, and took off into the desert at full speed growling and barking at a huge shadow that ran away from the dog. There aren't many huge animals in the area, some deer and horses, maybe cattle, but this was bigger.

I didn't stick around long enough to check what it was. I was pretty shaken by what I saw. found some fresh wolfmountain lion prints and hoof prints (probably from a horse) outside the Hogan the next morning, the dogs prints are smaller.

Our host said we might have seen a skinwalker. Id like to believe it was a horse, it was dark anyhow, but the host didn't want to talk about it too much. The guides we met later on said the same thing, and kept it at that.

Later that day one friend suddenly fell ill on a tour of another Hogan, and almost fainted. That never happened before in her life. The guide said she probably had some bad spirits attached to her. She recovered quickly after stepping outside.

That's all. It was a really wonderful trip overall, I'd go again if I could.

Unexplained thermostat changes

Every once in a while I start searching for other people who have been or had a similar experience that Ive had. So far nothing but here it goes again.

Two different times in my life, 20 years apart. Ive had the same exact experience in two locations.

I am super sensitive to heat and I almost feel sick if I feel the heat on in the house or car. So I notice it immediately. And I also live in the desert so normally its not a problem but 20 years ago I was working at a group home I was on the overnight shift I had already been working eight hours when I got my clients out of bed and started bathing them and starting breakfast. I started sweating bullets. Drenched in sweat. I looked at the thermostat and it was an old gold round one. And it was over 90. On that thermostat you have to turn it from off to heat and then turn the dial. I worked alone all night in a house my clients were all in wheelchairs and bed bound until I put them in their wheelchairs. There is no way the heat was on for eight hours without me noticing it. There were other things that happened at that house but thats the only one that matters in the story.

Then last year we went to Oregon coast for the summer. Its very cool there which is what we love about it the high was about 65. Being how I am we open the windows and let the cool breeze in and we like to freeze out. We had an Airbnb that was super nice right by the ocean. We thought the house was so beautiful but right away we felt eerie about it. We spent the night and the next day we were gone from the house all day came back around 8 PM at night. The second I walked in I could feel the heat in the house. We had to look around to find the thermostat. There was an old gold one same as 20 years ago were you had to turn it to heat and then turn the dial and it was already past 90 in the house. Immediately my husband said we were leaving and we did in fact even go to a hotel. Came back in the daytime to get our stuff out of the air may be just cut our losses and left.

A lot of people have a lot paranormal experiences. I have never found a similar story to this and thought I would post here to see if anybody has some insight or same similar stories. There was a lot more that happened at that Airbnb than just that

Did something take the form of my dad?

This happened a while ago, either December of 2020 or January of 2021, but I remember what happened clearly since it was strange and one of the very few seemingly paranormal events that I ever witnessed.

It was snowing a lot and this was around 2:00-3:00 AM at night. My little sister and I were awake and we went outside in the backyard to look at the falling snow without informing our parents. They were in their room along with my brother. The whole backyard was covered in snow.

After looking and walking in the falling snow in the backyard for about ten minutes, me and my sister both heard my name being called loudly by my father's voice, and we looked and saw a figure standing right from my room's window overlooking us and staring us down, that looked like my dad's silhouette. We thought we were in trouble since our dad is strict and overprotective, however, both of us did agree that we also got an eerie feeling at the same time since something felt off.

We went back into the house and we both went into my room and it was empty, then my sister went into our parent's room and asked our dad about it, and he didn't even know we were outside and that he didn't call my name.

We also recalled later, that the way the silhouette was standing, it would have been impossible for a person to physically stand like that by my window since there is a bed-post in the way.

There were some paranormal events in my house before this happened. The other paranormal events were on the 2nd floor and were reported by separate Airbnb guests that rented the 2nd floor. One guest complained of hearing threatening disembodied voices and two separate guests complained of seeing an unidentified person in the dark that stood completely still and didn't say anything to them but watched them from the bottom of the stairs. ( I think this might have been a shadow person since the guests couldn't describe the face or clothes saying it was too dark to see)

Ever since the latest paranormal occurrence I described in this post, I haven't experienced any other paranormal events at all. The 2nd floor isn't rented out for Airbnb anymore because my uncle's family and grandma live there and they haven't reported anything unusual, although my grandma does get scared to be alone in her room at night so she always leaves the door slightly open. I'm interested in the paranormal so I might buy ghost hunting supplies and inspect the house and other places that way.
