Where Boston Dynamics bots like BigDog stick to the ground, their other creations, such as the insectoid RiSE, climb high on walls and trees.
RiSe has fancy feet outfitted with micro-claws.
RiSE powers its way clear up vertical terrain with the help of its specially-made micro-clawed foot pads. With a series of chameleon-cautious, rigidly perfected movements from its six legs, RiSE can scale trees and walls, provided they feature a little porosity.
Each leg on RiSE runs on 2 electric motors and multiple sensors help the little bugbot detect leg strain, contact and joint position among other things.
