The Art of Jules Cheret

Jules Chéret came to be known as the father of the modern poster thanks to his beautiful poster art.

“An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.” - Charles Horton Cooley

He contributed greatly to the Belle Époque with his many poster pieces. His french aesthetic clearly demonstrates the ideals of the era's art and its fluid stylistic elements.

His posters served as appealing ads for popular music halls and theaters of his time, but live on as magnificent works of art all their own to this day.

“An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision.” - James McNeill Whistler

His paintings earned him plenty of respect, but his works intended as advertisements are considered his most important.
