The Art of Francis Bacon

Bacon Banner-does

Francis's work changed a number of times in subject matter and focus, but often leapt into the surreal.

From portraits of a gaping pope mid-scream to contorted women paired with formless figures, his art tends towards the inexplicable and audacious.

At times horrifying and grotesque, his nightmarish imagery pulls viewers into a dark space of burdened thoughts.

Bacon's heavy-handed, serial imagery followed his fixations at the turn of each decade of his life.
